Amani Affairs has been executing events since 2008, starting with a destination wedding in the Cayman Islands. We haven’t stopped since! We make any event FANTASTIC! Large or small. Many people ask what our company name means and its significance. It is our owner’s middle name and highlights the essence of who we are. AMANI means “faith, desires, aspirations, wishes, harmony and peace.” It reflects the expectations of our clients when they invest in us to execute their event, and we take this charge VERY seriously. You can put your faith in us for an affair to remember. We are determined to make your dreams a reality by creating moments you'll never forget.
Planning is what I was born to do! As a six year old, I started my first business, a friendship bracelet making company with my friends. I planned and organized everything – gave everyone titles, created order forms and business cards, planned weekly “business” meetings and mapped our growth strategy! As I grew older, I became even more organized and in college, I started working with classmates planning and executing events – parties, album releases, conferences – we did it all.
My undergraduate degree is in Entrepreneurship because I always dreamed of owning a business. I worked in finance for a while but that didn’t quench my creative desires, so I earned my MBA in Marketing. After business school, I worked in a variety of Marketing and Communications roles for nonprofits and marketing agencies. All my professional roles included event planning and that became my favorite part. Even while I was toiling away in my day jobs, I began my side hustle in the evenings and on the weekends where I helped coordinate events throughout the country for corporate clients as well as entertainers and professional athletes. Serving as an event planner has taken me places I never imagined and allowed me to meet a lot of great people while having fun.
Then in 2007, a good friend got engaged. She knew I was a part-time event planner and was obsessed with wedding shows. She asked me to help her plan her 2008 wedding and serve as the day-of coordinator. I said YES, of course. I must admit, I was slightly nervous. This was my first wedding, it was in the Cayman Islands, and I lived in a different city from the bride and groom. However, I shook off the nerves and ensured that my friends had a BEAUTIFUL wedding. I was officially hooked and have been planning and coordinating weddings and events any and everywhere ever since.
In 2016, I decided to make Amani Affairs my full-time job. I am currently enrolled in the Certified Wedding Planner program at University of North Carolina at Wilmington through the Lovegevity Institute.
Weddings and events are my passion. Being organized makes me smile. It’s a dream come true to have a career that allows me to live my purpose which is helping people experience the best times of their lives. I can’t wait to work with you!!

Unlike many women, I hadn’t thought much about my wedding before I got engaged. But once my fiancé proposed, I knew I wanted it to be a truly special celebration. Jihan helped me create my vision, and then gave 110% to make it come true.
Amani Affairs made our destination beach wedding in the Cayman Islands a dream weekend. The team was fantastic. Jihan, in particular, was our superhero- tracking bridal party flights, coordinating welcome gifts for wedding guests staying at 5 different hotels, ensuring guests got special attention, planning a welcome beach party, and finally, creating a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception.
A few days before the wedding day, we got a surprise that we thought might ruin our wedding. Our wedding venue learned that a major jazz festival (that year, featuring Robin Thicke and Anita Baker) was being relocated to a beach property next door on our wedding day. Concert rehearsals were scheduled for the entire day! Jihan kept a level head and helped us resolve the situation. We negotiated with the Jazz Festival coordinators and set an earlier time for the wedding. Jihan then went above and beyond to ensure wedding guests knew about the new wedding time, and to ensure all our vendors would accommodate the new wedding time (hotel shuttle vans, florist, limo, DJ, videographer, photographer and baker). Jihan had to work incredibly quickly, be resourceful, and be thoroughly attentive, in order to adapt all of our vendor arrangements with only 48 hours notice.
I should have known from working with Jihan during the months prior to the wedding that she would handle a curve ball well. She’d always been well prepared for any and everything. She is phenomenally organized with extreme attention to detail. Jihan also cares about finishing touches. Leading up to the wedding, her team worked long hours so that everything would be perfect.
Thanks to Amani Affairs, I had a wedding weekend that our family felt was special, personalized and memorable. Jihan informed us about all the latest wedding trends and customs. She is very creative, and shares great ideas. However, she is very respectful of the bride and groom’s vision, tastes and wishes. She was never pushy about ideas, like some wedding planners we interviewed. She strikes the perfect balance of supportive advice and customer service. In addition, Jihan is just fun to be around! We loved Jihan’s professional and caring approach so much that my mom asked her to help plan my baby shower years later. That was an amazing celebration too. Amani Affairs provided superb support on my wedding day and kept the day running smoothly. There was potential for flubs in seating and a possibility of interruptions to the ceremony due to the size of our wedding and the fact that everything was timed to an almanac's prediction of the sunset but Jihan made sure that it worked. There were a lot of balls to juggle: demanding guests, outdoor ceremony seating before the sun set, plus 'guarding the dress' during outdoor photographer work (again, working fast before the sun set). She rendered photo support all while simultaneously coordinating the outdoor string quartet and ensuring the pre-reception appetizers were served accordingly. There were little fires that she put out that I (as the bride) didn't even know about until I returned from the honeymoon. Amani Affairs is on speed dial for my next event.-Joi U., Bride, Texas
The baby shower for my first and only grandchild was understandably a very special and emotional event for me and my family, and obviously, we wanted perfection. Seven years earlier, Amani Affairs’ expertise and creativity had been an integral part of the successful planning and execution of my first daughter’s beach wedding, possibly the largest international destination wedding with a guest list of over one hundred. People travelled from all over the U.S.A and the world and everyone in attendance, regardless of age, had an unforgettable experience.
I therefore unhesitatingly asked Amani Affairs to help us to create another memorable occasion for the baby shower. As with the wedding, all parties involved were in different states, so coordination was again of great importance. Jihan’s strong organizational skills helped to keep us all invested in the process. After my daughter selected her color scheme, ideas for all the finer details (invitations, favors, menu, games, etc.) were shared and communicated electronically so that we could all be in the loop and have input. She introduced me, a true tech novice, to Pinterest and Google Chat. The latter was Jihan’s creative way of involving family and friends from other states who were unable to be in Atlanta on the day of the event.
Being dessert crazy, one of my best memories of the shower was the beautiful dessert table. Another unforgettable experience was that I was travelling from St. Louis the day before the event. Due to severe weather, I was the last person to get on the last diverted flight from St. Louis before all flights were cancelled. This is important because I was carrying items for the shower. I got to the venue with about 15 minutes to spare. Jihan was in constant contact with me through my overnight stay in the Chicago airport since the connecting flight was cancelled, to my arrival in the parking lot of the venue. Her blow by blow involvement allowed her to make in time adjustments that allowed us to start and end the shower on time, without going over our contracted time for rental of the venue. Because of her flexibility and ability to stay a step ahead of the game, she also made changes in the day’s program to allow us to incorporate the items I had brought while maintaining a seamless flow to our event.
